A highly uncommon SIGNED title from this author, and a desirable collectable in several fields. After the 'Dark Lady',the White Cat: A.L. Rowse follows his portrait of Shakespeare with a biography of Peter,a little Cornish cat. Many books have been written about cats, but hardly ever a straightforward biography. He began this book as a children's book, but found it quite a difficult thing to do - as difficult as drawing or painting a cat. Fortunately, like the historian he is,Dr. Rowse kept notes and has been helped by a researcher, his housekeeper, who looked after Peter in his absences in Oxford and America. The book has their original insight into the psychology of cats, lovingly observed and recorded. So this account of a cat is also an evocation of the beautiful place in Cornwall where he lived,as well as a revelation of an unknown side to the well- known historian, poet and Shakespeare scholar. A different, and an exceedingly Cornish book, this will appeal not only to friends of cats, but to lovers of Cornwall and of literature.
